Who we are

Our vision is nothing less than realizing the full potential of the Internet - universal access to research and education, full participation in culture - to drive a new era of development, growth, and productivity. To implement sustainable programs that improve access worldwide to investment, opportunity, and lifesaving services now and for future generations.
We prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and donors. We are is fighting every minute of every day to finish what we started and achieve our vision to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

Only 25% of youths in Uganda are reported to complete Primary School, with only 17% of those who do going forward to enroll in Secondary School. This staggering statistic is evident on the ground in Uganda and is why FAFU came into existence in 2016. In our first year of operation we have managed to place over 50 students in schools, vocational institutes and universities, depending on their situation. Thanks to the hugely generous support from all our donors, this number is ever increasing.

FAFU uses the simple concept of connecting willing sponsors to needy youths here in Uganda. We pride ourselves on our unique personal touch, enabling sponsors to build long-lasting relationships with the beneficiary where wanted. These relationships not only encourage the students to work harder, as they know someone somewhere is rooting for them, but they also make the experience more enjoyable for the sponsor. We have found it a WIN-WIN situation!

We have a small team of volunteers running the charity on the ground in Uganda. They understand each student on a personal level and endeavor to attend as many academic meetings at the various schools as possible (particularly where the student lacks any other guardian). This means we are able to facilitate communication between the sponsor and the student where wanted, as well as closely monitor and encourage them in their schoolwork.

FAFU always aims to keep admin costs to an absolute minimum, currently running at zero admin costs from our sponsors. While this is unsustainable, as we introduce some small costs we will always ensure these remain less than 10% of the total outgoings.

FAFU, at times, also covers medical needs to ensure that students are studying free from any discomfort.

Beyond direct sponsorship, we greatly rely on general donations, through fundraising events, one-off gestures and from Trusts and Foundations who have chosen to support the cause.

The level of support a child gets is not generic across all sponsored children, since they come from different situations and therefore have different requirements and needs. FAFU ensures all it’s beneficiaries are in a reputable institution, with the requirements necessary to facilitate their study.
